Shabnam grew up in a town in Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan. Her and her family are Hazaras, a persecuted ethnic minority. It became unsafe. Shabnam’s family and community began to fear for their lives. Shabnam and her family were forced to escape their home and come to Australia as refugees. She was 14 years old when she arrived in Australia in 2009.
